Welcome to
Dee-Mack Website:
We will be moving our student information system to a new company. We are currently in transition between our current software and the new system. Please expect a packet in July with information regarding your student(s). This packet will include information that was able to be formatted or retrieved from our current system. There may be some information that is missing, incorrect, or out of date. If that is the case, please make changes to the packet, sign and return.
Please be patient with us while we work through this transition!
Village of Mackinaw Message: At their meeting of the Village of
Mackinaw Trustees on May 11, 2009, the Trustees, at my request, agreed to
make the west side of Kerlin Street, across from the High School parking
lot, as a no parking area. This will
allow the buses to travel safely from the bus facility north on Kerlin. Also, this will alleviate congestion for
our neighbors to the east of the parking lot. At the same meeting, the Trustees decided
to make Kerlin and Fifth Street a three way stop to slow traffic around the
high school. Please be mindful of
these changes as you travel to the high school and park for
activities.
Superintendent’s
Message…
As we approach the close of
the 2008-2010 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to express
my appreciation. First, I truly
appreciate the support of the school’s mission from the community; parents,
grandparents, friends and relatives.
Your assistance with homework, your guidance with decision, your
financial support, your encouragement, and your attendance at events means
a lot to our students and staff.
Secondly, the faculty, staff, coaches, administration, and board of
education for the countless hours of commitment and dedication to helping
our students achieve their goals, as well as ours. Finally, I want to express my appreciation
to three special staff members who have decided to retire at the end of
this year and will most certainly be missed. It has been my distinct pleasure and
honor to work with Mary Jo Barnhill (5th grade), Bev Joos (3rd
grade), and Pam Gardner (Bookkeeper) over these past 18 years that I have
had the privilege of working in this district.
Mrs. Barnhill has taught in
the district for the past 30 years. Students
have thrived in her structured classes, through her hands on science and
geography instruction. Mrs.
Barnhill has been the driving force behind the geography bee and science
fair. Many students will never
forget the civil war reenactments, hardtack, and musket “minie balls”. She is a teacher that clearly
communicates high expectations for her students and the students rise to
the challenge.
Mrs. Joos has taught in the
district for the past 21 years.
Students have benefited from her ability to provide a nurturing,
loving environment. She has
motivated students with her involvement and leadership in the Young Authors
program and her Reader’s Theater program.
Mrs. Joos’ class production of the Martin Luther King play has been
an annual hit. Additionally, her
morning science program including animal and egg units have impacted
learning for all third grade students.
Over the years, she has been a tremendous advocate for special needs
students.
Ms. Gardner has served as
district bookkeeper for 18 years.
She is a very ethical, moral person who handled district finances
with care and diligence. Pam was
timely, working above and beyond to meet deadlines for payments.
We are proud that these three
ladies chose to serve Dee-Mack for their careers. Mrs. Barnhill, Mrs. Joos, and Ms. Gardner,
thank you; you will be greatly missed.
In closing, on behalf of the
faculty, staff, coaches, administration, and board of education, we wish
all our families a safe and enjoyable summer break and look forward to
seeing you in August.
Yours
for excellent schools, Steve Yarnall, Superintendent
