1. What are school hours, and what is the absentee policy?

The school day is from 8:00 am - 2:50 pm. Students arriving after 8:15 will be considered tardy, and after 8:30 students will be considered truant. Parents are required to verify each absence by phone before 10:00 am on the day of the absence. A message can be left at (309) 359-3049  or (309) 447-6297.

2. What is the visitor policy?

Visitors may park on 5th Street by the main entrance doors. All visitors must register with the school office upon entering the school building. To assure the security of all students and staff, doors will be secured when students are in the building.

3. Where can I find the daily announcements?

The announcements are posted daily through the Parent Portal as a bulletin. The link to the Parent Portal is located on the left side of the website.

4. What is the Parent Portal?

The SISK12 Parent Portal allows families to view grades, schedules, assignments, attendance, lunch accounts, and more online. Please call the office to learn how to login to SISK12 for users at (309) 359-4421.

5. How do I get a login to the Parent Portal?

Logins are sent out when we enter your email address when your student is registered. There could be transcription errors, so if you have not received an email, or wish to gain access to the portal, please call the school office at (309) 359-4421.

6. What is the school mascot?

The Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School mascot is the Chiefs. The female teams are often called the Lady Chiefs.

7. How do I order a yearbook?

Yearbooks can be ordered at registration and payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. After registration, yearbooks can only be paid for with cash or a credit card.

8. What is an appropriate length for shorts or skirts at school?

No shorter than the end of your fingers with your hands at your sides.

10. What software is recommended for projects?

The district uses Microsoft Office 2007. Through the Illinois Learning & Technology Purchasing Program, you can purchase a copy of Office 2007 or 2010 at a significantly reduced price.

Open Office is a free program that allows basic word processing and other productivity software. All files can be saved in a format compatible with Microsoft Office so students can open them at school.

Google Docs is a free online word processing and productivity service offered by Gmail. You sign up for a Gmail email and then have access to Google Docs. All services are free and can be saved in formats compatible with Microsoft Office so students can open them at school.
