MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

HELD AT THE UNIT OFFICE ON

THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 2007 AT 7:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Egolf at 7:31 p.m.

Roll Call: Members Present: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand

Members not Present: Miller

Administration Present: Yarnall, Lamb, Lammers, Reliford

Guests: Mike Manahan, Gary Jacobs, and David Combs

Recording Secretary: Wurster

Gary Jacobs presented the Board a check from First Security Bank in Mackinaw for $15,000, to be used for athletics. The money came from proceeds from the sale of a house that was built with discounted or free material and/or labor from several different local companies.

David Combs addressed the Board to ask for approval to allow sixth graders to try out for the junior high baseball team.

A motion was made by Mr. Cox, seconded by Mrs. Burmaster, to approve the consent agenda as presented. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Wiegand, seconded by Mrs. Burr, to accept with regrets the resignations of the following:

Chris Zehr junior high cheerleading coach

Tony Riddle junior high assistant baseball coach

Melinda Servis high school foreign language teacher

Natalie Putney freshman class sponsor.

A motion was made by Mr. Wiegand, seconded by Mr. Cornwell, to employ the following:

Sarah Drury and

Meghan Frerichs co-sponsors for the intermediate school student council advisors

Tom Seibert high school art teacher and assistant football coach

Cassandra Bilyeu high school part time French teacher and part time study skills tutor

Maria Reynolds high school Spanish teacher

Amanda Chilton co-sponsor of high school poms and split the stipend with Heather Winfrey-Richman

Emily Richards freshman class sponsor

Curtis Conrady high school volunteer assistant basketball coach

Earl Neeman bus driver for summer school to Hammitt.

A motion was made by Mrs. Burr, seconded by Mr. Cox, to recall the following:

Vicki White primary/junior high speech pathologist

Kristin Anderson intermediate school paraprofessional

Heather Richman high school part time family and consumer science teacher

Christine Miller cook at the high school

Dean Huntemann bus driver for Regional Safe School route to Creve Coeur

Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Cornwell, seconded by Mrs. Burmaster, to approve the reassignment of Sherri Stone from cook to head cook at the primary/junior high with her wages increased to head cook wages and an additional 15 minutes per day. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mrs. Burr, seconded by Mr. Wiegand, to approve the Application for Building Permit for playground equipment for the early childhood. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Cornwell, seconded by Mr. Wiegand, to approve the sixth graders to try out for the junior high baseball team. Ayes: Cornwell, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: Burmaster, Burr, Cox Tie 3 to 3 Motion did not carry.

A motion was made by Mr. Cox, seconded by Mrs. Burr, to approve the 2007-2008 Student Fees as presented with changes for band equipment rental. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Cornwell, seconded by Mrs. Burmaster, to approve the 2007-2008 Student Handbooks as presented. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Wiegand, seconded by Mr. Cornwell, to adopt resolution DCM06-07:15 authorizing the superintendent to create a budget for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Cornwell, seconded by Mrs. Burr, to adopt resolution DCM06-07:16 to approve the prevailing wages for Tazewell County. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mrs. Burmaster, seconded by Mr. Cox, to adopt resolution DCM06-07:17 authorizing the district’s participation in the Peoria County Cooperative Purchasing Program for 2007-2008. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Cornwell, seconded by Mr. Cox, to adopt resolution DCM06-07:18 to approve Davis and Campbell L.L.C. as the district’s legal firm for 2007-2008. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Wiegand, seconded by Mrs. Burr, to adopt resolution DCM06-07:19 to approve Heinold-Banwart, Ltd. as the district’s accounting firm for 2007-2008. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Wiegand, to go into executive session to discuss personnel, negotiations, and litigation at 9:48 p.m. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Cornwell, seconded by Mr. Cox, to come out of executive session at 10:39 p.m. Ayes: Burmaster, Burr, Cornwell, Cox, Egolf, Wiegand Nays: none Motion carried.
